Printing Methods

Dye Sublimation

A process where heat turns solid ink into a gas, which then bonds with a polymer coating on the product. This allows for high-definition, full-colour, edge-to-edge printing that won't peel or fade. These are applied manually by hand so won't be precision placement.

  • Best for: Ceramic Mugs 11oz, Fabric , Mouse Mats, Metal Keyrings, Flags, table clothes, fabric stands and Cushions.
  • Benefit: The "smooth-to-the-touch" finish is extremely durable and dishwasher-safe on mugs.

Digital UV Printing

This method uses Ultra-Violet light to instantly cure dry ink as it is printed onto a surface. It allows for high-quality, full-color images to be printed directly onto hard surfaces.

  • Best for: Rigid ID Cards, Phone Cases, Acrylic Literature Dispensers, and recycled plastic Trolley Coins.
  • Benefit: Allows for "small run" printing low quantities without the high setup costs of traditional methods.

Pad Printing One Colour - 4 Colour Option

Think of this like a giant rubber stamp. A silicone pad picks up ink from an etched plate and "stamps" it onto the product. Because the pad is flexible, it can wrap around curved surfaces.

  • Best for: Pens, Pencils, and small plastic promotional items like Torch Keyfobs.
  • Benefit: Ideal for small, intricate logos on curved or uneven items.

Laser Engraving

Technically not a "print," this uses a high-powered laser beam to etch the top layer of a material away, revealing the metal or colour underneath.

  • Best for: Vacuum Insulated Metal Bottles and premium Metal Pens.
  • Benefit: It is permanent and cannot be rubbed off, giving a high-end, executive feel to the gift.

Screen Printing One Colour - 4 Colour Option

Screen printing is the "old school" gold standard of the branding world. It involves pushing ink through a woven mesh stencil (a screen) onto a substrate. While digital printing has made waves recently, screen printing remains the heavyweight champion for bulk orders and vibrant, tactile designs.

  • Best for: Flat surfaces like notebooks, posters, and certain types of flat-sided drinkware.
  • Benefit: The ink used in screen printing usually plastisol is applied much thicker than digital ink. It bonds deeply with the fibres, meaning the design can survive hundreds of trips through the washing machine without fading or peeling.

Digital Transfer Printing UV DTF

This method combines the high-resolution quality of UV Printing with the flexibility of a Transfer. Instead of printing directly onto the object, the design is printed onto a special "A" film with UV-curable inks and a varnish layer. A laminator then applies a "B" film the carrier.

The result is essentially a "high-performance, 3D-effect rub-on transfer" that requires no heat to apply. These are applied manually by hand so won't be precision placement.

  • Best for: Irregularly shaped items that are glass, metal, wood or plastic such as glassware, hard hats, water bottles with complex curves, and "on-site" branding where you can't bring a machine.
  • Benefits The "3D" Look: Because of the varnish layer, the print is slightly raised and feels like it was embossed or printed directly onto the item at a factory.
  • No Heat Required: Unlike standard digital transfers, this is a cold process. This means it can be used on heat-sensitive plastics that would otherwise melt.
  • Ultra-Strong Bond: Once "cured" on the product for 24 hours, the bond is incredibly strong, waterproof, and scratch-resistant.
  • No "Box" Edge: Unlike a traditional sticker, only the ink transfers to the item. There is no clear rectangular film left behind—just your logo.
  • No Heat Required: Unlike standard digital transfers, this is a cold process. This means it can be used on heat-sensitive plastics that would otherwise melt.

Solvent Printing

Solvent printing is a digital inkjet process that uses pigment-based inks where the carrier liquid is an oil-based chemical solvent. Unlike water-based (aqueous) inks, the solvent actually softens the surface of the printing material—usually vinyl—allowing the pigments to chemically bond with the substrate.

As the solvent evaporates, it leaves the pigment deeply embedded in the material, making it incredibly rugged.

  • Best for: outdoor durability. It is the go-to choice for:
  • Vehicle Wraps: Because the ink bonds so well, it can stretch around curves without cracking.
  • Outdoor Banners: High resistance to wind, rain, and heavy weather.
  • Building Wraps & Billboards: Ideal for large-scale graphics that need to last for years.
  • Adhesive Vinyl: Stickers and decals that will be handled frequently or exposed to the elements.
  • Benefits: Extreme durability, it is naturally resistant to UV rays, scratches, and water without needing lamination in many cases.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Solvent inks are generally cheaper than UV-curable or Latex inks, making them great for high-volume production.
  • Vibrant Colour: Provides a high "pop" and deep saturation, especially on glossy media.
  • Media Versatility: It works beautifully on a wide range of uncoated, low-cost vinyls and banners.

Event & Display Hardware

  • A-Board: A freestanding, double-sided "A" shaped sign frame typically used on pavements. GP Print supplies "Economy Silver" versions for holding posters.
  • Flag Accessories: The hardware required to display flags, including Ground Spikes for grass, Parasol Bases water/sand-filled for stability, and Crest or Feather Flag Poles.
  • ID Card Holders: Plastic sleeves available in single or double-sided designed to protect and display ID cards without needing to punch holes in the card itself.
  • Lanyards: Neck straps used to carry ID card holders or keys. Available in various colours as plain stock or for custom branding.
  • Literature Dispensers: Clear acrylic or metal stands like the Oversized A4 Landscape Holder used to hold and display leaflets, brochures, or menus.
  • Table Stands: Small display units or "tent cards" used to hold printed information on desks or tables.
